Prvi Partizan's 100-grain SP is for shooters who want a heavy .243 bullet of simple design. The soft point is a copper-jacketed bullet with lead exposed at the nose. It leaves the muzzle at 2,960 fps with 1,945 ft-lbs of energy. Prvi Partizan does not say what game it is meant for.

Compared with Federal's Power-Shok 100-grain SP, the Prvi load matches it at the muzzle: the same bullet weight and type, the same speed and energy, and the same recoil in the same rifle. Federal markets its load for medium and big game. Compared with Winchester's Deer Season XP 95-grain, which Winchester builds specifically for deer hunters, the Prvi starts 140 fps slower and carries 82 fewer ft-lbs at the muzzle. The Winchester also kicks about 5 percent less in the same rifle.

Buy the Prvi Partizan if you want a 100-grain soft point with the same muzzle speed as Federal's Power-Shok. Pick the Power-Shok if you want those numbers from a maker that names medium and big game as the purpose. Pick the Deer Season XP if you hunt deer and want the faster start. Federal's Vital-Shok 100-grain Nosler Partition, which Federal markets for big game at close to mid range, starts 110 fps slower and kicks about 4 percent less. If you also shoot varmints, Hornady markets its Custom 87-grain V-Max for them; it starts 280 fps faster and kicks about 16 percent less than the Prvi.
