Product Overview
ADI's World-Class 69-grain is a match load built around Sierra's MatchKing, a hollow point bullet with a boat tail, made for paper and steel targets. It leaves the muzzle at 2,760 fps. The reason to choose it is its soft recoil, not its speed.
Compared with Federal's Gold Medal 69-grain, which uses the same weight of MatchKing, the ADI starts 190 fps slower. The Gold Medal kicks about 8 percent harder in the same rifle. Compared with Winchester's 69-grain Sierra MatchKing load, the gap in speed is wider: the Winchester leaves the muzzle 240 fps faster. It also kicks about 10 percent harder than the ADI, which adds up over a long match day.
Buy the ADI if you want a 69-grain MatchKing load for paper and steel with lighter recoil than the Gold Medal or the Winchester. Pick the Gold Medal 69 if you want more speed from the same bullet weight for only a little more kick. Pick the Winchester if muzzle speed matters most; at 3,000 fps it is the fastest of the 69-grain MatchKing loads. Pick Hornady's BLACK 75-grain BTHP Match if you want a heavier bullet; it starts 30 fps faster than the ADI but kicks about 20 percent harder. For a defensive load rather than a target bullet, Hornady builds its Critical Defense 73-grain FTX for self-defense rifles; it kicks about 13 percent more than the ADI.
