The G17 V is the full-size 9mm in the V-series that Glock launched in December 2025 to replace most Gen5 models. It keeps the G17 footprint, a 4.49-inch Marksman barrel and a 17-round magazine, and Glock lists no optic system for it. It is for the buyer who wants a plain iron-sighted G17 in current production and is weighing it against the Gen6, a leftover Gen5 or a SIG.

Outside, the V reads like a Gen5: a flared magwell with a front cutout, front slide serrations, an ambidextrous slide stop and a reversible magazine catch. The slide wears an nDLC finish. The Glock G17 Gen6 has the same length and height, comes optic-ready with three optic plates, and ships with a flat-faced trigger, a backstrap set and three magazines. The Glock G17 Gen5 ships with three magazines, and it went out of production on November 30, 2025, so new ones are leftover stock. The Sig Sauer P320 Full Size has a longer 4.7-inch barrel and an optic cut, but it weighs 28.3 oz.

Buy the G17 V if you shoot irons and want a current-production full-size Glock with the Gen5 grip shape. Skip it if a red dot is in your plans; the G17 Gen6 is the same size and Glock sells it optic-ready.
