The P320-M18 is the commercial version of the compact P320 the U.S. military issues as the M18, in the same coyote tan and with the ambidextrous manual safety. It is a compact striker-fired pistol for a buyer who wants a thumb safety, and who is comparing it with a plain P320 and a Glock G19. It has a 3.9-inch barrel and ships with a 17-round flush magazine and two 21-round extended magazines.
The ambidextrous thumb safety is the defining feature, and with the levers it measures 1.6 inches wide. The SIG Sauer P320 Compact holds two fewer rounds in a flush magazine, and Sig does not list a manual safety for that SKU. The SIG Sauer P320 XCarry weighs 1.6 oz less and has a flat X-Series trigger. The Glock G19 Gen5 weighs 4.5 oz less, but it has no manual safety, and Glock lists no optic system for it.
Buy the P320-M18 if you want a manual safety on a compact P320 and like the military setup, including night sights and an optic-ready slide. Skip it if you do not want a thumb safety; the Glock G19 Gen5 is lighter and has none.
