About This Firearm
Smith & Wesson brought the M&P platform to 10mm with a 4.6" barrel, 15+1 capacity, and the lightest trigger pull of any striker-fired 10mm at 4.3 lbs. The M2.0's flat-face trigger was already well-regarded in 9mm and .45 variants, and it translates well to 10mm. The trigger is noticeably lighter than both the Glock G20 (5.9 lbs) and has a crisper break than most stock striker systems in this caliber.
At 29.3 oz, the M&P sits between the Glock G20 (28.4 oz) and the Sig XTEN (33 oz). The four interchangeable palmswell inserts give more grip customization than the backstrap system on the Glocks. The manual thumb safety is present on this model, which some 10mm buyers specifically want for a woods carry gun. Optics-ready with the standard M&P optic mounting system. The 1.3" width and 7.9" overall length are nearly identical to the G20.
S&W entered the 10mm market later than Glock and Sig, so holster and accessory options are still growing. Standard M&P 2.0 holsters in 9mm and .40 do not fit the 10mm version due to the wider slide. The gun ships with two 15-round magazines.

Strengths & Limitations
- The 4.3 lb trigger is the lightest stock pull on any striker-fired 10mm. The flat-face design gives consistent finger placement. Reviewers note the break is cleaner than the Glock G20's 5.9 lb pull.
- The manual thumb safety is a feature no other polymer 10mm offers. For woods carry with a round chambered, some shooters will only consider guns with an external safety.
- Four interchangeable palmswell inserts provide more grip sizing options than the Glock backstrap system or the Sig's single grip module.
- S&W was late to the 10mm market. Holster options are limited compared to the Glock G20, which has had decades to build aftermarket support. Dedicated M&P 10mm holsters are available but not nearly as common.
- Two magazines included versus three with the Glock G20 Gen5 MOS. Finding spare M&P 10mm magazines requires ordering from S&W directly, as third-party options are scarce.
- Standard M&P 2.0 holsters in 9mm and .40 do not fit the 10mm version. The wider slide means the holster search starts from scratch.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I run the M&P M2.0 10mm with the thumb safety engaged?
That is a personal decision, but the thumb safety is there specifically for shooters who want it. Many woods-carry users engage it when holstering and hiking, then train to sweep it off on the draw. The safety is frame-mounted and sweeps down to fire. If you do not want a manual safety, Smith & Wesson does not currently offer a no-safety version of the M&P in 10mm.
Will M&P 2.0 holsters in .45 ACP fit the 10mm version?
In most cases, no. The M&P 10mm has a different slide profile and slightly different dimensions than the M&P .45. Some universal-fit OWB holsters may work, but purpose-built kydex holsters for the M&P 2.0 10mm are the safe bet. Check with the holster manufacturer before ordering. Safariland and several kydex shops now make M&P 10mm-specific models.
