About This Firearm
The Springfield Armory XD-M Elite is a high-capacity striker-fired 10mm built for duty and competition. It has an MSRP of $674 and weighs 31.0 oz with a 4.5-inch barrel. Its magazine holds 16 rounds, more than any other 10mm pistol listed here.
The slide is milled at the factory for a red dot, and the irons are a fiber optic front with a Tactical Rack U-Dot rear, so the rear blade can be pushed against a hard edge to run the slide one-handed. - A grip safety has to be fully depressed, and a high thumbs-forward hold can miss it on a hurried reload.
- A polymer frame at 31.0 oz holds less mass than a steel 10mm, so the gun moves more under a full-power load.
- A 4.5-inch barrel is short of the long slides built for handgun hunting, so heavy loads give up some velocity to them.
