Federal's Hi-Shok 115-grain jacketed hollow point is loaded to +P+ pressure and leaves the muzzle at 1,300 fps with 432 ft-lbs. Power factor is 150, 25 points over the 125 minor floor. From a 25-yard zero it drops 1.0 inch at 50 yards and 8.4 inches at 100, still moving about 1,124 fps at 50. Estimated recoil energy in a 1.9-pound compact pistol is 5.0 ft-lbs. +P+ is pressure above +P, so confirm the pistol is rated for +P+ before shooting it.
It is the fastest of the six hollow points here. The two +P loads are nearest: Winchester Defender 124-grain bonded JHP leaves 100 fps slower with 36 ft-lbs less; Hornady Critical Duty 124-grain FlexLock is 125 fps and 52 ft-lbs behind. Their heavier bullets keep recoil energy within 1 and 2 percent of the Hi-Shok.
