Armscor's 230-grain FMJ runs at the brisk end of .45 ball, 849 fps and 368 ft-lbs. That is a power factor of 195, 30 points clear of the 165 USPSA major floor. Zeroed at 25 yards, it lands 2.6 inches low at 50 yards and 17.8 inches low at 100. In the same pistol its recoil energy is about 2 percent above Magtech 230.
Three of the four comparisons are slower. Magtech 230 trails by 12 fps and 10 ft-lbs, and Winchester 230 by 14 fps and 12 ft-lbs, with about 3 percent less recoil energy in the same pistol.
