Product Overview
Ammo Inc's Signature Series 230-grain TMC is a full-power 230: 890 fps, 405 ft-lbs, and a power factor of 205 that clears the USPSA major floor of 165 by a wide margin. The TMC is a total metal case bullet, fully enclosed with no exposed lead at the base or nose, which is what ranges that restrict lead exposure ask for. From a 25-yard zero it prints 2.4 inches low at 50 yards and 16.1 inches low at 100. Among the three comparison loads it is the fastest and the hardest-kicking, with about 7 percent more recoil energy than Sellier & Bellot 230 in the same pistol.
Sellier & Bellot 230 and Armscor 230 run 853 and 849 fps, 37 and 41 fps behind this load, with 33 and 37 ft-lbs less at the muzzle. PMC Bronze 230 is the mild one at 830 fps and 352 ft-lbs, 60 fps and 53 ft-lbs behind, and it produces about 11 percent less recoil energy than this load in the same pistol; Armscor 230 sits about 7 percent below it. All four make major with at least 26 points of margin, so the difference between them is feel, not classification, and at 25 yards none of it moves a group.
Buy it for indoor ranges that require enclosed-base bullets, and for practice that should feel like a full-power carry load: Federal HST 230 JHP leaves at the same 890 fps within 1 ft-lb of this load's muzzle energy, and the two carry the same recoil estimate. Buy something else for a long, easy session: PMC Bronze 230 makes major at a power factor of 191 with the least recoil in the set, and Sellier & Bellot 230 splits the difference at 853 fps.
