Independence Brass 230-grain FMJ is .45 ball at the textbook numbers: 830 fps, 352 ft-lbs, and a power factor of 191 that makes USPSA major. From a 25-yard zero it prints 2.8 inches low at 50 yards and 18.6 inches low at 100. In the same pistol its recoil energy is identical to New Republic 230, which shares the 830 fps and 352 ft-lbs, and it is the lowest in this set.
The four comparisons all leave the muzzle within 19 fps of each other. Winchester 230 at 835 fps and Magtech 230 at 837 fps are 5 and 7 fps faster, carry 4 and 6 ft-lbs more, and produce about 1 percent more recoil energy in the same pistol. Armscor 230 at 849 fps and 368 ft-lbs tops the set. New Republic 230 is the same load on paper. Power factors run 191 to 195, so every one of them makes major with room to spare, and none of these differences will move a group at 25 yards.

Anyone who wants the hot end of standard-pressure ball should start with the Armscor rather than this load.
