Solved from this product's advertised 1750 fps, 180gr bullet and G1 BC 0.185, with the sight 0.5" over the bore at standard conditions. Compare every zero for .44 Magnum.
How to read it: filled circles are the near and far zero, where the bullet's path crosses the line of sight;the triangle is the peak (max ordinate). The shaded band is the 4" vital zone, ±2" either side of the line of sight. The dashed line marks the edge of the hold-dead-on window. The chart is zoomed to where the zero matters; the tables below run to 100 yards.

Product Overview
PMC's Bronze 180-grain jacketed hollow point is the light-fast end of .44 Magnum: 1,750 fps and 1,225 ft-lbs at the muzzle. Power factor is 315, which clears the USPSA major floor of 165 by 150 points; every load compared here makes major by a wide margin, so the floor is not what separates them. From a 25-yard zero the bullet sits 0.3 inches low at 50 yards and 3.6 inches low at 100. The jacketed hollow point is meant to expand on impact, which is what a self-defense load is asked to do.
The three loads it is compared with are all 240-grain hollow points, and the PMC beats each of them on muzzle energy. It carries 458 ft-lbs more than CCI Blazer 240, 392 more than Sierra Sports Master 240 and 311 more than the Fiocchi Defense Dynamics 240-grain semi-jacketed hollow point (SJHP). The lighter bullet does not buy softer shooting, because the extra velocity cancels the weight saving. In the same revolver the PMC out-kicks both the Blazer 240 and the Sports Master 240, and only the Defense Dynamics 240 kicks harder, by about 7 percent.
Buy this if you want the most muzzle energy of the expanding loads compared here and will take full-power recoil to get it. If what you want from a lighter bullet is less recoil, the 180 will not deliver it; Federal HST 230 produces about 29 percent less recoil energy in the same revolver, at 601 ft-lbs.
- Fastest load in its set: 1,750 fps is 500 fps ahead of Sierra Sports Master 240 and 550 fps ahead of CCI Blazer 240 .44 Magnum
- Power factor of 315 leads the group; Sports Master 240 makes 300 and Blazer 240 makes 288
- Brass case can be reloaded, which the aluminum-cased Blazer 240 cannot
- About 2 percent more recoil energy than Sierra Sports Master 240 in the same revolver, so the 60-grain weight saving never shows up in the hand
- Fiocchi Defense Dynamics 240 semi-jacketed hollow point matches its power factor, 314 to 315, with 440 fps less velocity
- About 9 percent more recoil energy than CCI Blazer 240 in the same revolver
