Blazer Aluminum pushes a 95-grain TMJ at 945 fps for 188 ft-lbs, power factor 90. TMJ is a fully enclosed bullet with no exposed lead, the construction indoor ranges with lead rules ask for, and the aluminum case is not reloadable. From a 25-yard zero the bullet is 2.2 inches low at 50 yards and 15.7 inches low at 100, with 857 fps left at 50. Drop like that says close-range pistol, and every load in this set is one.
Aguila 95 posts the same 945 fps and 188 ft-lbs and the same recoil energy in the same pistol, with a brass case instead. Winchester Service Grade 95 and Remington UMC 95 leave at 955 fps, 10 fps faster, and stay within 2 percent on recoil. Fiocchi 95 is 15 fps faster with about 3 percent more recoil energy. Tula 95 is the outlier: 1,017 fps and 218 ft-lbs, 72 fps and 30 ft-lbs over the Blazer, and about 13 percent more recoil energy. Only the Tula would be felt as a change; the four brass loads sit within a few percent of the Blazer, and none of them moves a pocket pistol's point of impact at practical distance.
Buy it for indoor practice where the range wants an enclosed bullet, or when you shoot a lot of .380 and do not reload. It is the softest 95-grain load in this set, tied with Aguila 95, and close to what a pocket pistol feels like with a standard carry round: Winchester PDX1 Defender 95 leaves 55 fps faster with about 10 percent more recoil energy. Reloaders should take Aguila 95 or Remington UMC 95 instead, since the aluminum case goes in the bin. Anyone chasing the most energy in a ball load wants Tula 95 at 218 ft-lbs, if the range allows steel.
