About This Suppressor
The Rugged Oculus22 is an all-stainless modular rimfire suppressor for .22 rifles and pistols. It has an MSRP of $542. Its ADAPT module unscrews to give two lengths, 5.25 inches and 6.9 ounces full size or 3.25 inches and 4.3 ounces short.
It threads on 1/2x28 direct thread, so a host threaded anything else needs an adapter. Rugged lists it as Belt Fed Rated in .22 LR and full-auto rated in .22 WMR, .17 HMR, .17 WSM and 5.7x28mm, which is the same rating in both lengths. The finish is Cerakote, and changing length is a matter of unscrewing the ADAPT module.
If you're cross-shopping, the SilencerCo Switchback 22 has an MSRP of $579 and four configurations instead of two, its short build at 2.80 inches. The Dead Air Mask HD has an MSRP of $489, one fixed 5.1-inch body and a titanium tube where the Oculus22 is stainless all through. The Oculus22 asks more than the Mask HD and returns a second length for it.
Strengths & Limitations
Pros
- Two lengths from one can, so a short pistol setup does not need a second purchase.
- Machined entirely from 17-4 PH stainless steel, so there is no aluminium part in the stack.
Cons
- An all-stainless build puts it at the heavy end of the rimfire cans on this list in full-size form.
- Two lengths, where the modular competition on this list offers four.
Where to Buy
Online dealers ship to a licensed dealer (FFL) near you, where you fill out the background-check form. Some still process a Form 4 by default; ask if you want it registered.
