About This Suppressor
The SureFire SOCOM300-SPS is a 20-ounce rifle suppressor for 7.62 rifles. It has an MSRP of $1,349. SureFire rates it for 7.62mm, .308 and 300 AAC Blackout, and offers it in black and dark earth.
It mounts with SureFire's Fast-Attach system onto SureFire flash hiders, muzzle brakes and WARCOMPs, which have to be on the rifle first and are bought separately. A device left on each rifle lets the can move between them without tools. The body is 7.9 inches long and 1.5 inches across, in high-temperature alloy and stainless steel.
If you're cross-shopping, the Dead Air Sandman-S has an MSRP of $999, is 6.8 inches at 17.7 ounces, and mounts on Dead Air's own quick-detach system. The Thunder Beast Arms Ultra 7 Gen 2 has an MSRP of $1,180 and is titanium at 9.8 ounces in direct thread form. Of the three, the SOCOM300-SPS is the heaviest .30-calibre can on this list.
Strengths & Limitations
Pros
- Fast-Attach mounting shares muzzle devices with the rest of SureFire's suppressor line.
- Rated for 300 AAC Blackout as well as .308, so a subsonic host is inside it.
Cons
- SureFire muzzle devices are separate purchases, so the rifle needs one first.
- Fast-Attach mounting only, so it cannot be threaded straight onto a barrel.
Where to Buy
Online dealers ship to a licensed dealer (FFL) near you, where you fill out the background-check form. Some still process a Form 4 by default; ask if you want it registered.
