About This Firearm
6mm ARC arrived in 2020 to give an AR-15 the reach that used to mean stepping up to an AR-10, and this is CMMG's carbine-length version of that idea. The barrel is 16.1 inches of stainless steel with a salt bath nitride finish and a fast 1:7.5 twist, which is what stabilizes the long, high-BC bullets the cartridge was designed around. The rifle weighs 6.4 lbs, measures 32.5 inches with the stock in, and has an MSRP of $1,599.95.
Magazines are the thing to understand before buying. 6mm ARC feeds from 6.5 Grendel pattern magazines and uses its own bolt, so a standard AR-15 magazine will not run it, and a 10-round CMMG magazine is what comes in the box. The EML15 handguard puts M-LOK at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock and drops the full-length top Picatinny section the previous handguard had, which saves weight but means a rail-mounted accessory now needs an M-LOK adapter. No sights are fitted. An adjustable gas block is installed, the muzzle is 5/8x24 under the brake, and the safety, charging handle, magazine catch and bolt catch all work from either side.
The Smith & Wesson Volunteer XV Pro M-LOK in the same caliber has an MSRP of $1,589 and arrives with folding sights and a 25-round magazine at 7.42 lbs.

Strengths & Limitations
- An adjustable gas block comes installed, so the rifle can be tuned for a suppressor or for one load rather than running over-gassed on everything.
- The ambidextrous safety, charging handle, magazine catch, bolt catch and extended magazine release are all standard, which covers the upgrades most AR owners buy first.
- At 6.4 lbs and 32.5 inches collapsed, it is lighter and shorter than most rifles that shoot this far, and CMMG's lifetime guarantee covers material and workmanship defects.
- The EML15 handguard leaves out the full-length top Picatinny section, so anything designed to clamp to a rail needs an M-LOK adapter first.
- No sights are fitted, and nothing at the front of the handguard is set up to carry a folding front sight.
- Magazines are a 6.5 Grendel pattern part rather than a standard AR-15 magazine, and the one in the box holds 10 rounds.

Frequently Asked Questions
What magazines does 6mm ARC use?
6.5 Grendel pattern magazines, not standard AR-15 magazines, and the rifle comes with a 10-round CMMG one. The bolt is also specific to the cartridge family.
Is the gas system adjustable?
Yes, an adjustable gas block is fitted from the factory. That is what lets the rifle be dialed back for suppressed shooting or for a particular load.
Where can accessories be mounted?
On M-LOK slots at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock positions of the EML15 handguard. There is no full-length Picatinny section on top, so a rail-mount light or laser needs an M-LOK rail section.
Is the muzzle threaded, and what pitch?
Yes, 5/8x24, with a CMMG brake fitted on it. The same threads take a suppressor mount.
Does it come with sights?
No. The rifle ships without front or rear sights, so an optic or a set of folding sights is a separate purchase.
