About This Firearm

The Volquartsen Vanquish 22 Superlite ISR is an integrally suppressed semi-automatic .22 LR built for suppressed range work. It has an MSRP of $1,884. Its 18.5 inch ported 416R stainless barrel runs inside a Cerakoted 6061 aluminum suppressor body, and the whole rifle weighs 5.31 lbs with the suppressor already counted.

A Picatinny rail is machined into the top of the receiver, so rings go straight on and the optic is a separate purchase. The TG2000 trigger group breaks at 2.25 lbs, and the stock is a Magpul unit in black on this build.

If you're cross-shopping, the Volquartsen Vanquish 22 Summit ISR carries the same MSRP of $1,884 and the same barrel in a straight-pull bolt action, with a 1.75 lb trigger and 5.56 lbs on the scale. The Ruger 10/22 Carbine is no longer made and is a used buy, and at 5.0 lbs it has the same 18.5 inch barrel length with a bare muzzle. It also takes the same magazines, so a 10/22 owner's spares carry straight over to this rifle.

Best For

GOOD
Suppressed Range Work
The action runs as fast as the shooter can call shots, and the suppressor goes with it because there is no can to hang off the muzzle and no mount to come loose in a string. The receiver is CNC-machined aluminum with a Type III hard anodized finish.
GOOD
Pest and Small Game
Volquartsen calls this a take on the classic 10/22 platform, so the controls and the magazine well are familiar to anyone who grew up with one. The suppressor body is Cerakoted, which suits a rifle carried through wet cover.
FAIR
Training
Length of pull is 13.5 inches, which is a full-size fit, so a young shooter needs a shorter stock. The 2.25 lb trigger is also light for a first rifle and wants a finger kept off it until the sights are up.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths
  • One factory Ruger 10/22 10-round magazine comes in the box, and it feeds Ruger 10/22 magazines, so a spare is a cheap and common part.
  • The barrel is 416R stainless and ported inside the suppressor body, so the sound work happens before the bullet leaves the muzzle.
  • The trigger group is a complete TG2000 unit, so the pull weight comes set from the factory and is not a gunsmith's job.
Limitations
  • The suppressor is part of the barrel assembly, so it cannot be moved to another rifle.
  • A semi-automatic bolt adds its own noise after each shot, which is why Volquartsen also builds the straight-pull Summit.
  • Volquartsen builds these to order, so buying one means waiting instead of carrying it out of a shop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the suppressor be opened for cleaning?

No. The body is machined as part of the barrel assembly, so the bore is cleaned from the chamber end and there is no baffle stack to take out.

Will 10/22 scope mounts fit?

The receiver carries its own Picatinny rail, so rings or a one-piece Picatinny mount bolt straight on and the 10/22 style scope base is not needed.

What other builds does Volquartsen list?

The same gun is offered with flat dark earth furniture or a flat dark earth barrel for the same money, and the chassis versions are dearer.
