Wolf markets its PolyFormance line for recreational, competitive and tactical shooting. This 123-grain load pairs a full metal jacket bullet, a simple practice bullet, with a polymer-coated steel case that can't be reloaded. It leaves the muzzle at 2,396 fps with 1,567 ft-lbs of energy, the most speed of the 7.62x39 ball loads it is compared with, though only by a few dozen feet per second.
Compared with PMC Bronze 123-grain, the Wolf leaves the muzzle 46 fps faster with the same bullet weight. The PMC's brass case can be reloaded, which the Wolf's steel case cannot. Compared with Red Army Standard 124-grain, another steel-case load, the Wolf is also 46 fps faster at the muzzle, and the two kick almost exactly alike in the same rifle.
Buy the Wolf for matches, drills and plinking if you want a little more muzzle speed than the other steel-case ball loads, Tula, Red Army Standard and Golden Tiger. Pick PMC Bronze 123-grain if you reload your brass. Pick Tula 122-grain if you want the lightest bullet and the softest kick among the steel-case loads. If you want a soft point instead of a full metal jacket, Prvi Partizan's 123-grain PSP leaves the muzzle 64 fps faster than the Wolf.
