Golden Tiger's 124-grain FMJ-BT is a steel-case range load built around a boat-tail full metal jacket bullet, a solid-nosed practice bullet whose base tapers toward the rear. It leaves the muzzle at 2,330 fps with 1,495 ft-lbs of energy. The steel case can't be reloaded. It shares its bullet weight and type with one other steel-case load, Red Army Standard, which makes that the natural comparison.
Compared with Red Army Standard 124-grain, the Golden Tiger starts 20 fps slower and carries 26 fewer ft-lbs at the muzzle, so the two sit very close together. Compared with Tula 122-grain, it leaves the muzzle at the same 2,330 fps, and the Tula's lighter bullet kicks about 3 percent less in the same rifle.
Buy the Golden Tiger if you want a boat-tail practice load in a steel case and don't need the last few feet per second.
