Product Overview
Tula's 122-grain FMJ is a steel-case load for range practice. Its full metal jacket bullet is the plain, solid-nosed bullet most shooters train with, and at 122 grains it is a grain or two lighter than the other 7.62x39 ball loads it is compared with. It leaves the muzzle at 2,330 fps with 1,470 ft-lbs of energy. The lighter bullet is why it kicks a little less than the heavier ball loads, though the differences are small.
Compared with Wolf Polyformance 123-grain, the Tula gives up 66 fps at the muzzle but kicks about 4 percent less in the same rifle. Both loads use steel cases, so neither can be reloaded. Compared with PMC Bronze 123-grain, the speed gap shrinks to 20 fps in the PMC's favor. The bigger difference is the case: the PMC's is brass, which you can reload.
Buy the Tula for high-round-count practice where a little less recoil matters more than a few feet per second. Pick Wolf Polyformance 123-grain if you want more speed from a steel case. Pick PMC Bronze 123-grain if you reload your brass. If you want a soft point instead of a full metal jacket, Prvi Partizan's 123-grain PSP leaves the muzzle 130 fps faster than the Tula.
