Winchester's Super-X 129-grain load is for hunters who want a traditional soft point in the 6.5 Creedmoor. Its Power-Point bullet is a soft point with an exposed lead tip. It leaves the muzzle at 2,820 fps with 2,277 ft-lbs of energy.
Compared with Hornady's American Whitetail 129, the Super-X is a match at the muzzle: both leave at the same speed with the same energy, and they kick the same in the same rifle. The difference is the bullet. The American Whitetail uses Hornady's InterLock, a soft point with a ring that locks the jacket to the lead core. Compared with Hornady's Superformance 129 SST, a polymer-tipped load, the Super-X is slower. The Superformance leaves the muzzle 130 fps faster and kicks about 5 percent harder in the same rifle.
Buy the Super-X if you want a plain soft point with an exposed lead tip at 129 grains. Pick the American Whitetail if you would rather have Hornady's InterLock bullet at the same speed and recoil. Pick the Superformance if you want more speed from a polymer-tipped bullet and accept a little more recoil.
