Hornady Custom 123-grain SST is a polymer-tipped 6.5 Grendel hunting load made for medium game. The SST is Hornady's polymer-tipped bullet over a lead core. It leaves the muzzle at 2,580 fps with 1,818 ft-lbs and has a G1 BC of .510.
Zeroed at 200 yards, it drops 9.1 inches at 300 and 26.2 inches at 400, where it still carries 1,028 ft-lbs. That is the least drop and the most energy of the 6.5 Grendel hunting loads compared.
If you're cross-shopping, AAC's Sabre Blade 123-grain Black Tip shares the bullet weight and the G1 BC, 55 fps slower, and from a 200-yard zero it drops 27.6 inches at 400. Barnes' VOR-TX 115-grain TAC-TX is the copper bullet of the loads compared, dropping 28.9 inches at 400 from that zero.
