Grizzly markets its 300-grain JHP for deer and elk hunting. JHP stands for jacketed hollow point: a jacketed bullet with an open cavity in its nose. It leaves the muzzle at 1,500 fps with 1,499 ft-lbs of energy, and Grizzly loads it to standard pressure rather than +P.
Compared with Winchester's Super-X 300-grain JHP, the Grizzly uses the same bullet weight and style at a much lower speed. The Winchester leaves the muzzle 380 fps faster, at 1,880 fps, and carries 856 ft-lbs more energy. In return, the Grizzly kicks about 18 percent less in the same rifle, so it is the milder of the two to shoot. Winchester markets its Super-X load for hunting.
