Product Overview
Fiocchi markets its 150-grain FMJBT for target shooting, and speed is the reason to buy it. Its full metal jacket boat-tail bullet, a plain practice bullet with a tapered base, carries a G1 BC of .398 and leaves the muzzle at 2,890 fps.
Compared with PMC's X-TAC 147-grain FMJBT, the Fiocchi starts 90 fps faster. Zeroed at 100 yards, the Fiocchi drops about 54 inches at 500 and the X-TAC about 58. Compared with PMC's Bronze 147-grain FMJ BT, the Fiocchi starts 110 fps faster. At 500 yards, a steady 10 mph wind blowing across the range pushes the Fiocchi about 23 inches sideways and the Bronze about 25. The Bronze kicks about 8 percent less in the same rifle.
Buy the Fiocchi if you want a fast, flat-shooting 150-grain practice load for steel out to 500 yards and don't mind the extra kick. Pick the X-TAC if you want a similar path with less recoil; PMC markets X-TAC for professional and tactical use. Pick Igman's 147-grain FMJ if light recoil matters most; it kicks about 10 percent less. For hunting, Hornady's American Whitetail 150-grain InterLock is a soft point that Hornady markets for large game.
