Product Overview
Fiocchi's .308 Winchester load drives a 150-grain FMJ boat tail to 2,890 fps, the fastest velocity in this group of range-grade .308 loads. That speed produces 2,781 ft-lbs of muzzle energy, a full 130 ft-lbs more than the next closest competitor. The G1 BC of 0.398 keeps the bullet efficient at distance, and the high starting velocity means it arrives at 300 yards faster and flatter than anything else in this weight class.
Fiocchi manufactures in both Italy and their Ozark, Missouri facility, and this load reflects their European approach to powder selection. The hotter charge gets the 150-grain bullet moving fast without exceeding SAAMI pressure limits. That extra 70 to 160 fps over competing loads shows up as flatter trajectory and more authority on steel targets. Hits at 400 yards ring harder and feel more positive, which matters when you are trying to call shots during rapid-fire strings.
The trade-off for that velocity is slightly more recoil and a bit more barrel heat per round. Shooters who are recoil-sensitive or running lightweight rifles will notice the difference compared to milder loads. But for most .308 shooters who want maximum performance from range ammunition, the Fiocchi delivers. It works well in bolt guns and semi-autos alike, and the brass is suitable for reloading. If you want your practice ammo to hit the hardest and fly the flattest, this is the one to load up.
- Fastest load in the group at 2,890 fps, producing 2,781 ft-lbs of muzzle energy that no other range-grade .308 here can match
- The velocity advantage translates to noticeably flatter trajectory, with about 2 inches less drop at 300 yards compared to the Igman and Magtech loads
- Boat tail design combined with high velocity means positive hits on steel past 400 yards are easy to call without a spotter
- Cycles reliably in gas-operated semi-autos with the extra port pressure from the hotter charge
- Heaviest recoil of any load in this group, which will fatigue shooters faster during high-volume training sessions
- The hotter charge generates more barrel heat per round, which can open groups up during sustained fire compared to the milder Magtech or PMC Bronze
- BC of 0.398 is lower than both the Federal American Eagle (0.408) and the Winchester M80 (0.456), partially offsetting the velocity advantage at longer distances
