Product Overview
Nosler sells its Trophy Grade 100-grain Partition as a hunting load, and it is the fastest of the 100-grain loads it is compared with. The Partition bullet has a copper wall that divides its lead core into front and rear sections. It is rated at a G1 BC of .377 and leaves the muzzle at 3,300 fps.
Compared with Nosler's Expansion Tip 100-grain E-Tip, a copper bullet with a polymer tip, the Partition starts 100 fps faster and the two stay close out to 500 yards. At 400 yards, a steady 10 mph wind blowing across the range pushes the Partition about 13 inches sideways and the E-Tip about 12. Zeroed at 100 yards, the Partition drops about 21 inches at 400; the E-Tip about 22. The Partition kicks about 4 percent harder in the same rifle. Compared with Remington's Core-Lokt 100-grain PSP, a plain pointed soft point, the Partition starts 70 fps faster and holds up better in wind: at 400 yards the same wind pushes the Core-Lokt about 18 inches.
Buy the Partition if you want a lead-core hunting bullet that keeps up with the copper E-Tip in wind and drop. Pick the E-Tip if you want or need a bullet with no lead; it gives up almost nothing to the Partition and kicks a little less. Pick the Core-Lokt if your shots are close, inside 200 yards, where it drops within half an inch of the Partition.
