Hornady Varmint Express 60-grain V-Max is a polymer-tipped .224 Valkyrie load made for varmints. The V-Max has a thin jacket and a polymer tip over a lead core, and at 60 grains it is the lightest bullet the caliber is loaded with. It leaves the muzzle at 3,300 fps with 1,451 ft-lbs and a G1 BC of .265.
Zeroed at 200 yards, it drops 6.6 inches at 300 and 20.0 inches at 400. From a 100-yard zero it drops 10.5 inches at 300 and 25.2 inches at 400.
If you're cross-shopping, Federal's AE 75-grain TMJ is the plain range load in the caliber, 300 fps slower at the muzzle on a G1 BC of .400 and drops 20.3 inches at 400 from a 200-yard zero. Nothing in .224 Valkyrie kicks less than this load.
