Federal Fusion 90-grain SP is a bonded soft point .224 Valkyrie load made for big game at long range. The jacket is fused to the lead core, and at 90 grains this is the heaviest hunting bullet the caliber is loaded with. It leaves the muzzle at 2,700 fps with 1,457 ft-lbs and a G1 BC of .424.
Zeroed at 200 yards, it drops 8.7 inches at 300 and 25.2 inches at 400 with 738 ft-lbs left. From a 100-yard zero it drops 33.5 inches at 400.
If you're cross-shopping, Barnes' VOR-TX 77-grain LRX is the caliber's copper hunting load, with a polymer tip, and it starts 200 fps faster and drops 21.9 inches at 400 from a 200-yard zero. It arrives at 400 yards with 718 ft-lbs.
