Springfield Armory Echelon Pro Comp Adds Three 9mm Models at $899

Springfield Armory launched the Echelon Pro Comp line in 9mm, three pistols that each list at $899 on the product page. The sizes are the 4.0C compact, the 4.0FC hybrid and the 4.5F full-size.

The Echelon is a modular, striker-fired duty pistol built around the Central Operating Group, a serialized stainless steel chassis that moves between compatible grip modules and slide assemblies. Standard Echelons list at $710 to $832, and the entry-level Echelon Alpha lists at $599 to $649.

The Pro has a forged slide with an integral compensator, a port that redirects gas upward to cut muzzle rise. Springfield Grey Cerakote finishes the slide. A removable machined-steel magwell flares the opening for reloads, and a stainless steel guide rod adds forward mass.

The frame debuts LightForged texturing, in which lasers sculpt the grip surface. Its first pattern is Badlands, a cracked-earth design the maker compares to hand stippling. Up front, the sight is tritium with an orange luminescent ring, paired with a serrated black rear.

The Pro keeps the Echelon’s Variable Interface System, whose self-locking pins are set to an optic’s footprint so the optic mounts directly to the slide without adapter plates. Its barrel is hammer forged with a Melonite finish, and the slide stop and magazine release are ambidextrous. Springfield Armory lists no specific optics, weights or barrel lengths on the page.

Each pistol ships with three magazines, 20+1 in the 4.5F and 4.0FC and 18+1 in the 4.0C. Because the magwell comes off, the pistol can also run flush-fitting magazines. Springfield Armory says the Pro is tested beyond SAAMI drop test parameters, and that a secondary sear in the Central Operating Group adds protection if the pistol is dropped.

Steve Kramer, Springfield Armory’s vice president of marketing, said of the new pistols, in remarks Gun Digest published, that the Echelon Pro “takes that solid foundation and adds a wide range of performance-oriented enhancements.” The pistols are available now.
