HatsanUSA, of Bentonville, Arkansas, recalled about 16,170 Blitz and Blitz 777 air rifles on October 15, 2026, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said in its recall notice. The rifles can fire unexpectedly when the bolt is released before the rifle is fully cocked, a risk of serious injury or death from a projectile.
HatsanUSA has received one report of an accidental misfire, and no injuries have been reported. CPSC numbered the recall 27-025.
Every unit of both models sold from February 2020 through March 2026 is covered. Both came in .22, .25 and .30 calibers. They are gas-operated, select-fire (semi-auto and full-auto) pre-charged pneumatic air rifles, with a carbon fiber air tank under the barrel, a synthetic stock and a rotary magazine feed. They are black.
Because every unit is included, no serial number range applies. Owners can confirm a rifle by its markings. The serial number and manufacturing date are engraved on the right side of the receiver above the bolt, and the model name BLITZ or BLITZ 777 is marked on the left side.
Owners should stop using the rifles immediately and make sure they are unloaded. HatsanUSA will mail a free trigger assembly replacement with instructions. Owners who do not want to replace the trigger assembly themselves can get a prepaid package label to ship the rifle to HatsanUSA for inspection and replacement.
HatsanUSA can be reached at 877-750-3375 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, at blitzrecall@hatsanusa.com, or through the recalls page on hatsanairgunsusa.com.
Both models are made in Turkey. They were sold in stores and online at sporting goods stores and gun shops, at hatsanairgunsusa.com, and through catalog sellers including Utah Airguns, Airgun Depot and Pyramyd Air, from February 2020 through March 2026 for between $800 and $1,100.
