The Kuna is a roller-delayed 9mm pistol with an AR-style grip and a 30-round magazine, closer to a braced carbine than to anything you holster. It is for the buyer who wants a compact 9mm that shoulders or braces like a small rifle for home defense, truck duty or range days, and who likes the roller-delayed action's soft recoil. At 74.0 oz and 15.5 inches long, judge it against other large-format pistols, not handguns.
Springfield uses a locking roller to delay the bolt, which it says allows a lighter design with less recoil. The upper is a monolithic aluminum receiver with an integral M-Lok handguard, the charging handle is reversible and non-reciprocating, and the 6.0-inch barrel is threaded 1/2x28 with a multi-port brake installed. The Diamondback DBX 5.7x28mm is a similar large-format pistol in a different cartridge: it costs $37 more, weighs 16.4 oz less, and holds 10 fewer rounds per magazine. If the job is home defense in 9mm and you don't need a shoulder-mounted gun, the full-size Springfield Armory Echelon covers it at $710 in a holster-sized package.
Buy the Kuna if you want a 9mm roller-delayed gun with ambidextrous controls, M-Lok and a Picatinny end plate for a brace. Skip it if weight matters more than 9mm ammo cost; buy the DBX instead.
