About This Firearm
The P229 Elite is the compact member of SIG's classic DA/SA line, an alloy-frame pistol with a stainless steel slide, a decocker and no manual safety. It is for a buyer who wants a hammer-fired DA/SA gun small enough to carry or keep in the house, and who is weighing it against the polymer-frame Beretta PX4 Storm and HK P30. It has a 3.9-inch barrel and weighs 29.8 oz.
The Elite package adds a beavertail frame, front-strap checkering, SIGLITE night sights and SIG's Short Reset Trigger, and since 2024 the slide ships ready for an optic. The Beretta PX4 Storm weighs 2.1 oz less and holds two more rounds, but Beretta lists no optic-ready version of the full-size PX4. The HK P30 weighs less on a polymer frame, with a rear decocking button, and HK lists no optic-ready P30 either. The SIG Sauer P229 Legion adds a Grayguns trigger, G10 grips and a third magazine.
Buy the P229 Elite if you want a compact metal-frame DA/SA pistol with a factory optic cut. Skip it if you want a lighter carry gun and can live without a factory optic cut; buy the HK P30.
