Black Hills loads this 250-grain RNFP, a plain lead round nose flat point, mild for cowboy-action matches: 725 fps and 292 ft-lbs, the slowest of the lead loads it is compared with. Power factor is 181, over the 165 major floor. From a 25-yard zero it drops 3.8 inches at 50 yards and 25.2 inches at 100. Standard pressure, brass case, reloadable.
Against Fiocchi Cowboy Action 250-grain LRNFP, the closest match, it is 25 fps slower with 20 ft-lbs less energy; on a match stage the two will feel the same. Atomic 200-grain LRNFP goes the other way, 75 fps faster and 8 ft-lbs behind, and its lighter bullet drops it to minor while the Black Hills makes major. Neither cowboy load changes the hold at match distance; all three are zeroed at 25 yards and inside 4 inches low at 50.
Pick this for cowboy-action matches where you want major with the lowest recoil that still gets there, or for a light session in a single-action revolver.
