Underwood 245-grain FMJ FN is a full metal jacket flat nose .44 Special load made for hunting medium game. Underwood leaves the nose flat instead of round, under a jacket that runs over the whole bullet. At 950 fps it makes 491 ft-lbs.
With a 25-yard zero it lands 2.0 inches low at 50, still moving 907 fps with 448 ft-lbs there. Its estimated recoil of 13.3 ft-lbs in the same revolver is about 62 percent above Magtech 240-grain FMJ.
