Underwood loads a 245-grain FMJ flat nose to 950 fps and 491 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. Power factor is 233, far above the 165 major floor. From a 25-yard zero it drops 2.0 inches at 50 yards and 14.1 inches at 100, and it still carries 412 ft-lbs at the 100-yard mark, where it is moving 870 fps.
Magtech 240 FMJ is the only close comparison, and the difference is large. The Underwood is 228 fps faster from a bullet just 5 grains heavier. The trade is recoil: the Magtech produces about 38 percent less recoil energy in the same revolver. Where the Magtech is a soft practice load, the Underwood is a full-power one, and a long session with it will feel that way.
