The polymer tip in the hollow point cavity prevents clothing and debris from clogging the opening, which allows the bullet to expand even after passing through heavy fabric layers. The lighter 110gr bullet at higher velocity produces less felt recoil than heavier defensive options in the same caliber. That matters in small revolvers where every bit of recoil control helps with follow-up shots. The standard-pressure rating also means this load is safe in all .38 Special revolvers, including older models and lightweight alloy-framed guns that may not be rated for +P ammunition.

Hornady uses nickel-plated brass cases that feed smoothly and resist corrosion from sweat and humidity during daily carry. The propellant is optimized for short barrels, so velocity loss from a 2-inch snub-nose is less severe than with loads tuned for 4-inch test barrels.
