Winchester Defender 180-grain is a bonded jacketed hollow point 10mm Auto load made for personal defense. Bonding joins the jacket to the lead core so the two stay together as the bullet expands. It leaves the muzzle at 1,240 fps with 614 ft-lbs.
Sighted at 25 yards it prints 1.1 inches low at 50, arriving at 1,120 fps. Estimated recoil in a compact pistol is 11.2 ft-lbs.
If you're cross-shopping, Hornady Custom 180-grain XTP is 35 fps faster at 1,275 fps on an unbonded bullet. Federal Personal Defense 200-grain HST carries 20 more grains of bullet at 1,130 fps. Winchester's own Super-X 175-grain Silvertip is 40 fps slower at 1,200 fps.
