Colorado GMU 741 covers 309,501 acres and lies 15 miles south-west of Durango and 30 miles south-east of Cortez. 10% of it is public land, mostly state land (4%) and Bureau of Reclamation (4%). A further 38% is tribal land rather than public land. In 2024, 317 people hunted elk here and took 96, a 30% success rate. Its most applied-for hunt, EM074O1A, put up 450 tags (all residencies) in the 2026 draw for 337 nonresident first-choice applicants, 330 of whom drew.
