About This Firearm

The CMMG Suppressed ZEROED Banshee Mk4 SBR is a direct-impingement .300 Blackout short-barreled rifle built for suppressed hunting. It has an MSRP of $2,124.95. A ZEROED 30 suppressor comes with it, tucked under an oversized M-LOK handguard, so the can adds no length out front and the rifle measures 29.5 inches.

An adjustable gas block trims the back pressure the can creates, and the drop-in single stage trigger and ambidextrous 60 or 90 degree selector come fitted. The B5 Systems Bravo stock rides a six-position FASTBACK extension, so the rifle runs from 27 to 29.5 inches at 6.4 lbs with the suppressor counted.

If you're cross-shopping, the Daniel Defense DDM4 ISR has an MSRP of $3,945 and builds its suppressor permanently onto a 9 inch barrel, a 34.75 inch rifle at 7.57 lbs. The Maxim Defense PDX:SD SBR has an MSRP of $3,695 and pulls its suppressed package down to 23.75 inches around a 5.5 inch barrel at 7.38 lbs. Both rivals cost more and build the can into the gun for good.

Best For

GOOD
Suppressed Range Work
Three silicone handguard covers come with the rifle, because the handguard sits over the suppressor and takes the heat the can gives off. The barrel is nitride finished, which helps in a bore that collects carbon faster with a can on the end of it.
FAIR
Truck or Pack Gun
Collapsed, the stock is as short as this gun gets, and nothing folds, so a suppressed Banshee still takes up most of a carbine case. CMMG's weight figure already counts the can, so there is nothing else to add to it later.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths
  • The can threads onto 5/8x24, so it comes off for cleaning or goes onto another .30-caliber host.
  • The upper is billet 6061 T6 and the lower forged 7075 T6 in the AR pattern, so the grip, trigger and stock are standard parts.
  • Cerakote is offered in Armor Black, Coyote Tan, FS Green, Midnight Bronze and Tungsten at the same price.
Limitations
  • CMMG quotes a 45 to 60 business-day lead time on this one, so it is an order and a wait.
  • The handguard is sized around the ZEROED 30, so a different suppressor means giving up the tucked-in fit.
  • A direct-impingement gun with the can inside the handguard sends gas back toward your face, and the adjustable block trims that without curing it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it take standard AR-15 magazines?

Yes. It feeds AR-pattern .300 Blackout magazines, and a Magpul 30-round PMAG comes in the box.

How do you clean it with the suppressor under the handguard?

The can unscrews from the muzzle and the silicone covers pull off by hand, so the bore and the suppressor can be worked on separately. A suppressed .300 Blackout also throws more carbon into the chamber end and onto the bolt face, so both want attention sooner than on a bare-muzzle gun.

What is the 1:7 twist good for?

It stabilizes the heavy subsonic .300 Blackout bullets a suppressed rifle mostly gets fed, and it still handles lighter supersonic loads when the gas block is opened back up.
