Browning markets its BXS load for deer and other big game, and this 180-grain version suits a hunter who wants a heavy copper bullet. Browning calls the bullet BXS Copper Expansion, a polymer-tipped copper bullet. It leaves the muzzle at 3,000 fps with 3,597 ft-lbs of energy.
Compared with Sellier & Bellot's 180-grain TXRG, a lead-free bullet of the same weight, the Browning leaves the muzzle 247 fps faster and starts with 569 more ft-lbs of energy. It also kicks about 10 percent harder in the same rifle. Compared with Winchester's Deer Season XP Copper Impact 150, a lighter polymer-tipped copper bullet with no lead core, the Browning's bullet is 30 grains heavier but leaves the muzzle 260 fps slower. The Copper Impact kicks about 23 percent less in the same rifle, a gap a recoil-sensitive shooter will notice over a day at the bench.
