Federal markets its American Eagle 150-grain FMJBT for target shooting and competition. The bullet is a full metal jacket with a boat tail, a tapered base on a plain jacketed bullet. It has a G1 BC of .408 and leaves the muzzle at 2,910 fps.
Compared with Remington's UMC 150-grain FMJ, the American Eagle leaves the muzzle at the same speed and kicks the same in the same rifle, so the difference shows up downrange. At 500 yards, a steady 10 mph wind blowing across the range pushes the American Eagle about 22 inches sideways and the UMC about 31. Zeroed at 100 yards, the American Eagle drops about 52 inches at 500 and the UMC about 60.
