Sightmark launched the Wraith 2 LRF series on October 23, its first thermal riflescopes with an integrated laser rangefinder, the company said in a release dated that day. The rangefinder is a first for the Wraith line.
A thermal riflescope focuses the infrared energy objects give off onto a sensor and shows the image on a display, so it works in total darkness. The 384 lists at $1,999.97 and the 640 at $3,499.97.
Its Class 1 laser reads distances from 5 to 1,000 yards and shows them on the display. Accuracy is ±1 yard out to 200 yards, then ±0.5% to 1,000 yards. Enter rifle, load and weather data, switch on trajectory calculation, and the display adds an estimated aiming point for bullet drop.
Magnification starts at 3x on the 384, which makes distant targets look larger. The 640 starts at 2x, a wider view for scanning.
NETD, the thermal sensitivity rating, is 20 mK on the 384 according to its product page. For the 640, the product page says under 20 mK, while the release says below 40 mK.
| Model | MSRP | Sensor | Optical magnification | Objective lens | Detection range, 4.9 ft target | Weight with caps |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wraith 2 LRF 384 | $1,999.97 | 384x288 px | 3x | 35 mm | 2,350 yd | 31.1 oz (883 g) |
| Wraith 2 LRF 640 | $3,499.97 | 640x512 px | 2x | 40 mm | 2,730 yd | 30.8 oz (874 g) |
Both share a 1024x768 OLED display, a 60 fps frame rate, a 12µm pixel pitch and 1–8x digital zoom. They have five color palettes and 14 reticles, and Wi-Fi, video recording and photo capture are built in. Each measures 6.9 x 3.4 x 3.5 inches. The aluminum alloy housing is rated IPX6 and operates from -4°F to 122°F.
Each scope takes one removable 18650 battery, rated up to 4.5 hours in preview mode. Sightmark packs two batteries and a charger. A USB-C port can run the scope from an external power pack, but it cannot charge the cell inside.
The built-in mount clamps to a Picatinny rail, the slotted rail found on many rifles. Mounting screws take 35–50 inch-pounds and eye relief is about 2 inches. Sightmark says the compact body suits AR-style rifles and other compatible firearms, and it published no caliber list.
Both scopes are sold at sightmark.com with free shipping and 30-day returns.
