Zeroed at 25 yards, it is 1.3 inches low at 50 and 10.2 inches low at 100, still moving about 1,042 fps at the 50-yard line. Estimated recoil energy in a 1.9-pound compact pistol is 4.0 ft-lbs. The case is steel: not reloadable, magnetic, and refused by some ranges.

Its numbers land almost on top of CCI Blazer Aluminum, which is 5 fps slower with about 1 percent less estimated recoil energy in the same pistol; the difference between them is the case, not the ballistics. Magtech Steel is 15 fps slower and about 2 percent softer. Winchester WIN9S, the other steel-cased option, is the fast one at 1,190 fps and 362 ft-lbs, 40 fps and 24 ft-lbs ahead of the Wolf, with about 6 percent more recoil energy. Drop at 50 yards is 1.2 to 1.4 inches across the four loads, so none of them needs a different hold at pistol distances.

This is a bulk practice load for shooters whose range accepts steel cases, and its velocity sits in the middle of this group. Magtech Steel is the choice for the least recoil, though the 2 percent gap is too small to feel.
