Product Overview
At 1,230 fps and 806 ft-lbs, Federal's Power-Shok 240-grain jacketed hollow point sits in the middle of the .44 Magnum range. Power-Shok is Federal's conventional hollow point for hunting. Its power factor of 295 clears the 165 USPSA major floor with plenty to spare, as every load in this group does. From a 25-yard zero it lands 1.1 inches low at 50 yards and 8.6 inches low at 100, where it is still moving at 1,042 fps.
Black Hills 240 is almost the same load, 30 fps faster with 40 ft-lbs more, and the two land less than half an inch apart at 100 yards. Hornady Custom 240 XTP is 120 fps faster and hits 1.7 inches higher at 100 yards, in exchange for about 17 percent more recoil energy in the same revolver. PMC Bronze 240, a truncated cone soft point, is 267 fps faster and 3.1 inches flatter at 100 yards, with about 41 percent more recoil energy. For full-power range practice, Ammo Inc Signature 240-grain TMC is a non-expanding load with a power factor of 343, 48 points above the Federal.
