Best .30 Super Carry Ammo
Every load we price, sorted by cost per round delivered to your state
We track 1 .30 Super Carry load from 1 dealer. The cheapest delivered to AR, shipping included, is Remington HTP .30 Super Carry 100gr JHP Ammo at $2.17 a round.
The .30 Super Carry is a Federal pistol cartridge for compact carry guns such as the Smith & Wesson Shield Plus and Shield EZ. It fires a .312" bullet, the same diameter as .32 ACP, from a 21mm case at up to 52,000 psi. That puts a 100gr bullet at about 1,235 to 1,250 fps, between .380 ACP and 9mm, and the slimmer round fits more cartridges than 9mm in a magazine of the same size.
This page currently lists one load, Remington HTP 100gr JHP, which is a defensive hollow point. Federal also makes FMJ practice ammo and other hollow points in the caliber, and they will show here when a dealer we follow has them. Check the headstamp before loading: .32 ACP, .32 H&R Magnum, and .327 Federal share the bullet diameter but will not work in a .30 Super Carry pistol.

Advantages and Disadvantages
Pros
- .30 Super Carry over 9mm: more rounds in a magazine of the same size.
- .30 Super Carry over .380 ACP: more velocity and energy from a pistol of similar size.
- .30 Super Carry over .32 ACP: the same .312" bullet diameter at about 1,250 fps instead of 900 to 1,000 fps.
Cons
- Few pistols are chambered for it, mostly Smith & Wesson Shield models and a Hi-Point carbine.
- Smaller, lighter bullet than 9mm: 100 grains at .312" against 115 to 147 grains at .355".
- No lighter sibling to practice with: .32 ACP and .32 H&R share the bullet diameter but will not fire in a .30 Super Carry pistol.
