Colorado GMU 72 covers 625,213 acres and lies 16 miles west of Cortez and 55 miles west of Durango. 29% of it is public land, mostly BLM (29%). A further 38% is tribal land rather than public land. In 2024, 876 people hunted deer here and took 578, a 66% success rate. Its most applied-for hunt, DM072O3R, put up 575 tags (all residencies) in the 2026 draw for 139 nonresident first-choice applicants.
