About This Firearm
The IWI Tavor X95 SBR is a gas-piston bullpup 5.56 NATO built for home defense and truck or pack carry. It has an MSRP of $1,999. Its action sits behind the trigger, which puts a 13 inch barrel in a rifle 22.8 inches long with nothing folded or collapsed.
Folding front and rear iron sights come on the rifle, so it aims out of the box, and the forearm has Picatinny rails at the 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions under removable covers for a light or a vertical grip. An A2 style flash hider sits on 1/2x28 threads, which a suppressor replaces.
If you're cross-shopping, the 16.5 inch IWI Tavor X95 carries the same MSRP of $1,999 and the same 1:7 barrel, at 26.13 inches and 7.9 lbs against the SBR's 22.8 inches and 7.5 lbs. The Kel-Tec RDB has an MSRP of $799.99 and a longer 17.3 inch barrel in a 27.3 inch bullpup at 7 lbs, but it comes with a 20-round magazine, so the X95 SBR is the shorter of the two and half a pound heavier.

Strengths & Limitations
- The front sight blade carries a tritium insert, so there is a lit aiming point if an optic goes dark.
- Each rail cover comes off on its own, so the rifle carries bare Picatinny just where something is bolted to it.
- IWI builds the SBR in flat dark earth as well as black.
- It weighs 7.5 lbs before a magazine goes in, which is a lot of gun for 22.8 inches.
- The trigger links back to a fire control group behind the magazine, so there is more mechanism between your finger and the sear than an AR puts there.
- A right-handed X95 ejects beside your cheek, and a left-handed shooter needs IWI's left-hand version of the same rifle.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which magazines does it take?
It feeds 30-round polymer STANAG magazines, the same pattern an AR-15 uses.
Can the grip be changed?
Yes. The Tavor style grip is modular and swaps for a standard pistol grip with a conventional trigger guard, which is the setup a shooter coming from an AR will know.
Do accessories move between this and the 16.5 inch X95?
Muzzle devices and suppressors do, because both barrels are threaded 1/2x28 and cut 1:7. Magazines are the same STANAG pattern across the line.
