Wolf markets its Military Classic line for high-volume range and practice shooting, and the 148-grain FMJ is a range load for 7.62x54R rifles. The bullet is a full metal jacket, with the jacket closed over the nose: a plain bullet for paper and steel targets, not a hunting bullet. It leaves the muzzle at 2,785 fps with 2,548 ft-lbs of energy.
The case is steel, not brass, and that has two practical results. A steel case cannot be reloaded, so there is nothing worth saving once the rifle is empty. Steel is also magnetic, and some ranges do not allow steel-case ammunition at all. If you shoot at a club or an indoor range, check its rules before you buy a large supply.
Buy the Military Classic 148-grain FMJ if you want a steel-case load for range practice in volume, you do not reload, and your range allows steel. Pick Prvi Partizan's 150-grain SP-BT instead if you want a brass case you can reload, or a soft point with a boat tail rather than a full metal jacket. The Prvi Partizan carries a bullet 2 grains heavier and leaves the muzzle 55 fps faster than the Wolf, and it kicks about 5 percent harder in the same rifle.
