Prvi Partizan's 150-grain SP-BT is a soft point load for 7.62x54R rifles, for shooters who want a hunting bullet rather than a full metal jacket. The SP-BT is a jacketed soft point with a boat tail: a hunting bullet with exposed lead at the nose and a tapered base. Prvi Partizan rates it at a G1 BC of .385 and gives a muzzle velocity of 2,840 fps, measured in its long 28.5-inch test barrel. The case is brass.
At 200 yards the bullet is still moving at 2,379 fps and carries 1,885 ft-lbs of energy. Zeroed at 100 yards, it drops about 13 inches at 300 yards, so shots past 200 call for a known distance. At 300 yards, a steady 10 mph wind blowing straight across the range pushes it about 8 inches sideways. That is how far from the aim point the bullet lands if you make no correction for the wind.
Buy the Prvi Partizan 150-grain SP-BT if you want a soft point with a boat tail, in a brass case you can reload, for your 7.62x54R rifle. If you are buying for the range instead, Wolf markets its Military Classic 148-grain FMJ for high-volume range shooting. It is a full metal jacket bullet in a steel case, which cannot be reloaded, and some ranges do not allow steel-case ammunition. It leaves the muzzle 55 fps slower than the Prvi Partizan and kicks about 5 percent less in the same rifle.
