Product Overview
PMC's X-Tac 62-grain LAP is a green-tip load for 5.56 NATO rifles; fire it only in rifles chambered for 5.56 NATO. The 62-grain bullet, which PMC calls LAP, has a green tip and is rated at a G1 BC of .304. PMC rates the load at 2,920 fps from a 16-inch barrel.
Zeroed at 100 yards, the bullet drops about 14 inches at 300 yards and about 60 at 500. Wind moves it sideways as well. At 300 yards, a steady 10 mph wind blowing across the range pushes it about 10 inches off line; at 500 yards the same wind pushes it about 32 inches. Those are the distances you would have to aim upwind to stay on target. If you zero at 200 yards instead, the drop at 500 yards comes down to about 52 inches.
Buy the X-Tac 62-grain LAP if you want a green-tip 62-grain load for a 5.56 rifle and prefer a little less recoil than a faster 62-grain load. If you want more speed at the muzzle, Winchester's 62-grain M855 FMJLC leaves the muzzle 140 fps faster than the X-Tac. It also kicks about 6 percent harder in the same rifle, so the X-Tac is the slightly softer-shooting of the two.

- Zeroed at 200 yards, it lands only about 8 inches low at 300 yards
- A steady 10 mph crosswind pushes it about 19 inches sideways at 400 yards
- Even zeroed at 200 yards, it drops about 25 inches at 400 yards
- Some ranges do not allow green-tip ammunition, so check the rules before you bring this 62-grain load
