Product Overview
Federal's Premium 60-grain Nosler Ballistic Tip is for shooters who want speed and light recoil from a .224 Valkyrie. The Nosler Ballistic Tip is a bullet with a polymer tip. This load starts it at 3,300 fps with 1,451 ft-lbs of energy.
Sixty grains is the light end of the bullet weights loaded in the .224 Valkyrie, and the light bullet is where the speed comes from. The same light bullet keeps recoil low in the rifle, which makes a long session at the bench or from a bipod easier on the shooter.
Buy it if speed at the muzzle and light recoil matter more to you than bullet weight. Hornady's Varmint Express 60-grain V-Max is the closest match: Hornady markets it for varmints, and it has the same bullet weight, the same muzzle figures and the same recoil in the same rifle. If you want a heavier bullet, Barnes' VOR-TX 77-grain LRX is an all-copper bullet that Barnes markets for medium game and varmints. It leaves the muzzle 400 fps slower and kicks about 42 percent harder in the same rifle.
