Oklahoma’s regular duck season in Zones 1 and 2 opens Nov. 14, 2026, and goose seasons open statewide Nov. 7, the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation said in a Nov. 5 notice carried by The Outdoor Wire. Duck hunters in the three Panhandle counties have been in the field since Oct. 10, and the state sits in the Central Flyway’s wintering range for ducks and geese.

Zones 1 and 2 cover every county except Cimarron, Texas and Beaver, and their duck season runs Nov. 14 through Dec. 6 and Dec. 12 through Jan. 31, 2027. The Panhandle counties, managed as the High Plains Mallard Management Unit, opened Oct. 10 and close Jan. 13, 2027. The daily limit is six ducks of any species combined, with no more than five mallards, of which only two may be hens, three wood ducks, three pintails, two redheads, two canvasbacks and one scaup. Mergansers count against the duck limit, and coots carry a separate daily limit of 15. A hunter may hold up to three daily limits after three days afield.

Goose seasons open Nov. 7 statewide. Dark geese, every goose other than white-fronted and light geese, and light geese, the snow, blue and Ross’s geese, run Nov. 7 through Dec. 6 and Dec. 12 through Feb. 14, 2027, with daily limits of eight dark geese and 50 light geese. White-fronted geese run the same first split and then Dec. 12 through Feb. 7, 2027, with a two-bird daily limit. The possession limit for dark and white-fronted geese is three times the daily bag, and light geese have none. A conservation order light goose season follows Feb. 15 through March 30, 2027, with no daily bag, electronic calls, unplugged shotguns and shooting until a half hour after sunset.

A youth, veteran and active military waterfowl day falls on Nov. 7 in Zones 1 and 2, with a second on Feb. 6, 2027, and the Panhandle counties get a second such day Jan. 30, 2027 after their Oct. 3 day. Those days allow ducks, mergansers, coots and geese at the regular-season limits. The department’s youth-day page sets the youth age at 17 or younger, while its duck page says 15 or younger, and the accompanying adult may not hunt ducks, mergansers or coots on those days unless also a veteran or on active duty.

Waterfowl hunters need a state hunting license, a Harvest Information Program permit, the Oklahoma Waterfowl Hunting License for residents 18 to 64 and all nonresidents 18 and older, and a federal duck stamp for hunters 16 and older, which the migratory game bird regulations price at $25 at post offices or $29 from Oklahoma license dealers. The adult nonresident five-day hunting license is not valid for waterfowl. Shooting hours run from a half hour before sunrise to sunset, shotguns may hold no more than three shells, and all waterfowl and coot hunting statewide requires federally approved nontoxic shot.

In Oklahoma City, designated blind sites at Lake Stanley Draper and the Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge are reserved by the day under rules the city put in place Nov. 1, 2025. A city waterfowl shooting permit costs $5 a day or $20 a year, a blind reservation costs $5 a day and may be made up to a week ahead, each hunter may hold one site a day, and a site is limited to five people. Blinds must sit within 25 yards of the posted GPS point and come out each day, boaters need a city boating permit at $6.25 a day or $33 a year, and no wakes are allowed inside Stinchcomb.

The first duck split in Zones 1 and 2 closes Dec. 6, and the season ends January 31, 2027.
